Whether you call it a crisp or a crumble, or a lazy person’s version of apple pie, I guarantee you will also call it delicious. Your guests won’t believe that it is gluten and dairy free!

- 3 cups apples, peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks
- Zest and juice from 1 lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 tablespoon tapioca starch
- 1 cup cassava flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup lard
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit.
- Combine apples, juice and zest from lemon, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and tapioca starch and spread in small casserole dish (1-2 quart size).
- In mixing bowl, combine cassava flour, baking soda, and salt. Add lard, water, and honey and mix until a thick dough forms.
- Crumble dough evenly over fruit.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is baked and browned.
